The state we are in

Filed under: Misc. — tzooming @ 5:02 pm

It is difficult for me to write a posting which does not already reflect what my fellow Malaysians feel. My fellow Chinese Malaysians to be exact. There is an immense sense of disappointment to see confusion over the supposedly partisan newspapers disagreeing on the government’s ability to execute projects and the funding allocated as per the budget. One does not need to be an idiot to figure out why Joceline Tan or how the headlines today posed a stance of discontent by certain people on their disappointment with the election budget announced on Friday. I don’t i need to debate on the points in the budget. We already know why it was done the way it is. Of course we just look at what the NST has to say and negate every positive it puts forward.

The state we are in is one of confusion to the Malaysian. Here i am writing this stuck in the middle of city in China which is known as the manufacturing hub of the world and expanding so rapidly I fear for the future of my country’s ability to compete with the juggernaut that i see in this one city. God Bless our country. While we feud on who gets the crumbs of crony contracts in the Iskandar development project ( which would most likely end up vacant in the next 5 years), we have real industries growing  and jobs created this very moment here in Dongguan, China. I just came back from site visit at the Huawei Technologies Factory and can’t help but compare the economic benefits the Putrajaya and MSC combined have come up to. I think there more people in that one factory than the whole of Cyberjaya.

Can the 2nd finance minister and fat chick in glasses come over to China to see what we’re dealing with here seriously?

A new study released this week indicates that widespread access to communications technologies has led to widely varying uses of Web 2.0-type expressive and social networking activities. The study defines Web 2.0 as people expressing themselves online and participating in the “commons of cyberspace.”In general, the report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project classified about 31 percent of Web 2.0 participants as Elite Tech Users, meaning they often use these kinds of functions. Another 20 percent were classified as Middle-of-the-Road Tech Users, and 49 percent fall into a category called Few Tech Assets.

A full 85 percent of American adults use the Internet or cell phones, according to the new report titled “A Typology of Information and Communication Technology Users.” It sought to categorize users of information and communication technology (ICT) by the number of ICT devices they own, how they use them, and their attitudes about these devices. - Mobile Tech Today

Research on mobiles to detect radiation, toxic and etc

Filed under: Mobile Industry News — tzooming @ 5:46 am
WASHINGTON — The government is researching whether the best defense against a chemical, biological or radiological attack might one day be right in everyone’s hands — or on their ears.

Homeland Security officials are looking into outfitting cellphones with detectors that would alert emergency responders to radiological isotopes, toxic chemicals and biological agents such as anthrax

The Homeland Security Department says the program, called Cell-All, might work this way: Detectors would be placed in cellphones, most of which are already linked to the Global Positioning System. If a detector recorded a hit, the GPS would transmit the location and time to local emergency responders and Homeland Security’s operations center.  - USA Today
